We know that many people have had negative experiences with Homeowners' Associations (HOAs). That's why we want to be clear: The Hunters Ridge Neighborhood Association is a voluntary organization, not an HOA.
We believe in fostering a spirit of community and cooperation. This means:
Membership is always optional. We hope you'll choose to join because you see the value in the mission, but your participation is entirely your choice.
Contributions are voluntary. We ask for a contribution to help fund our initiatives, like snow removal, but there are no mandatory dues and no fees, or fines.
We are a resource, not a rulebook. Our purpose is to serve as a hub for our neighbors and a unified voice for our community. We simply work to keep our neighborhood beautiful for everyone, in line with city guidelines.
1. Reliable Road and Snow Management:
Consistent and Timely Snow Removal. Our primary and most immediate benefit is ensuring our roads are cleared efficiently and reliably during winter storms. Your membership dues will directly fund our professional snow plowing and salting contract, providing peace of mind and safe access to and from your home. This is the issue that brought us together, and it's a promise we're dedicated to keeping.
2. Increased Communication & Community Connections:
Know your neighbors. We desire to create a network where you can get to know the people who live just down the street. We'll be a hub for local information, a place to ask for recommendations, and a way to organize neighborhood get-togethers and events. Our goal is to build friendships and a sense of shared community.
3. Enhanced Neighborhood Safety:
A connected community is a safer community. When neighbors know each other, they are more likely to look out for one another. The Association will facilitate communication regarding local safety concerns, act as a liaison with local law enforcement, and organize initiatives like a Neighborhood Watch program. We can be each other's first line of defense.
4. A Collective Voice:
One voice is stronger than many. The Association gives our neighborhood a single, strong voice when dealing with the City of Indianapolis. By working together, we can more effectively advocate for what matters most to us: improvements to our roads, sidewalks, and other essential services.
5. Property Value Preservation:
Looking Out for Each Other. Part of being a good neighbor is helping to maintain the standards that make our community a great place to live. The Association aims to be a friendly point of contact for sharing information on how to keep our properties safe and well-maintained, in line with city guidelines, for the benefit of us all.
6. Community Building & Events:
Fun for the whole family. We're not just about problem-solving; we're about celebrating our community. We plan to organize events like an annual block party, a neighborhood-wide garage sale, holiday gatherings, and more. These are great ways to meet new people and create lasting memories right where you live.
